Master Bedroom Makeover

My bedroom has pretty much been the same for years - with the exception of a new quilt on the bed.
I decided to change it up and see what I can do for under $40. Now, I have to tell you. I picked a bad time of the year to change my bedroom and post it on my blog. I work a full time job, have 3 children in school, and granddaughter (and her parents, can't forget about them, I guess) who is under a month old, and lets not forget, it is BOW SEASON!!! Yes, we are a house full of hunters. We even have Rylie in "Bow Training"

My first task and biggest expense was painting the bedroom. I treated myself and actually bought paint tinted to the color I wanted. No self mixing here. :( The paint was approximately $20 or so.

Next was new curtains. I found fabric in the clearance section and spent $1.50 on one color (kinda turquoise)  and $1.89 on a second color (white). I knew I had some brown fabric at home just sitting there.

Now, Feeling very lazy I just took the fabric and cut even pieces out of each color - straight across. Kinda. I did not use a ruler and just took the scissors and started cutting away. I then sewed each strip together and created a pocket at the top for the curtain rod.

Can you see them in these pics????

At first I thought the white was just too bold so I used my fancy machine that my handsome man bought me for my birthday last year and embroidered on the white.
Isn't the deer fancy!!! I also embroidered pine cones. The deer pattern was about $2.00 as a download and the pine cone pattern was a free download. SWEET!

Once all done I decided my quilt was just too light but I really liked it and I was thinking on the cheap, did not want to buy a new one. So I purchased 2 bottle of mocha brown fabric dye for around $6.00 and added my quilt and shams to the washer with the dye and soaked for about an hour.

Voila! A darker quilt closer to what I was looking for. I rearranged the furniture in the room and it made it seem so much bigger in there. SO PRETTY!

All New LOOK! I stole a picture from the dining room and put above the bed. I placed candle holders around the room, which I already had. And the total cost! $31.39, and I rounded up a bit too.

Spinach Lasagna Rolls

I originally found this recipe here on skinnytaste.com. She gets all the credit. I changed it a bit because the Handsome Man does not like ricotta. Pooh. Slow Cooker Taco Chili

My church had a Chili Cook Off last night to kick off this year’s family night. It was a runner up for most popular vote. I would have won if Zoey wouldn’t have mysteriously come up with 3 extra votes when it came to announce the winner. Ha Ha! All the chili was very yummy last night and I had to taste all 8 entries. Needless to say, I was soooo uncomfortable afterwards. It was fun! All my co-workers appreciated it too as I took what was left over to feed them the next day. I put together all the ingredients the night before and put it in the crock pot over night. In the morning before leaving to work I took it out of the fridge and put the crock pot on low for the day. Super easy and it is nice to get home from work to already have supper done. Slow Cooker Taco Chili Ingredients 1 pound ground beef (or ground venison) 1 pound bulk pork sausage 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes 1 (15.25 ounce) can whole kernel corn with red and green bell peppers ...
